First introduced in 1993, the Zen gained a cult following thanks to its jellybean design and the rev-happy 1-litre engine. The peppy 1-litre SOHC unit was capable of producing 60bhp of max power at 6,000rpm (whew!) and 78Nm of peak torque. The Zen received features like body coloured bumpers in 1997. This was followed by a limited run of the two-door version which was meant for exports called Carbon and Steel.
These models are extremely rare and difficult to find in the used car market. Expect prices of these limited edition cars to shoot through the roof.
In 2003, the Zen received a facelift. This model was very popular and had a long waiting period too. This model was discontinued in 2006.
